The Thanksgiving Invitation by Eve Morton

OUT NOW! The Thanksgiving Invitation by Eve Morton

On Thanksgiving weekend, Beatrix “Trixie” Fairchild expects her three grown children to meet her in Niagara Falls. For what, she won’t say — but her cryptic invitation spark a certain kind of magick and makes it so each one of her adult children returns to their hometown with hope, and only a small amount of resentment, in their hearts.

Whether it’s Ivy, the oldest, who fears following in her mother’s witchy footsteps; or Hazel, the middle child with itchy feet and a wanderlust that can’t be sated; or Rowan, the youngest and only boy, now a trans woman struggling to integrate her past and present lives; each returns home, expecting some sort of resolution to their family woes. What they get is a surprise love interest along the way.

Will Ivy continue to overthink her own happiness, refusing to see what is right in front of her? Will Hazel feel too betrayed by her false family line and leave now that she has no home anchoring her in place? And will Rowan be able to finally integrate the best parts of herself without compromise and hurt feelings in the aftermath? What is Trixie planning for the holiday weekend?

Sheamus O’Mallory misses the good old days. Back when you could smoke without worrying about getting cancer, police work was simple, and Toronto hadn’t been rebranded The Neon City, supernatural refuge of the country. Now monsters crawl around every single corner, and while it makes for good business working as a PI in this new neon landscape, he can’t help but miss a lot of other creature comforts.

Things change when he’s been tasked to track Jake Ohk, an MIA werewolf who needs to return to his pack in order to fulfill his biological duty in his birth gender. While Sheamus is sympathetic to gender concerns in this new landscape, he knows from his time on the force to not mess with supernatural law. So when he finds Jake, he is determined to bring him back to his pack leader, and wipe his hands clean of the entire affair.

The night does not go as planned. Even though it is not a full moon yet, there are already far too many changes lurking under Jake’s skin to simply walk away and never think of his piercing blue eyes again …

Self-Care in Space by Eve Morton

OUT NOW! Self-Care in Space by Eve Morton

Roland Ruiz isn’t very good at taking time for himself. When he loses a big intergalactic trafficking case at his legal firm, his boss tells him to take the Vacation Station travel liner and visit the vacation moons of Jupiter. What should be fun ends up feeling more like exile, especially as Roland is left unimpressed by the first moon he visits and is snubbed by the locals. Everything changes when a beautiful scientist working on Io shows him the dynamic chemicals that go into synthetic snow, which keeps the vacation ski lodge up and running in the most drastic of space climates.

Martha Carpenter has been working hard her entire life and with very little credit. It’s only when her ex wins a prestigious grant, however, that she begins to feel resentment creep into her daily life of making weather conditions for some of the Jupiter’s vacation moons. In an effort to stay positive, she turns to her old routine of self-care, and soon meets trans man and disgraced lawyer Roland, who could benefit from her many lessons.

As Roland and Martha grow closer, she must decide if being invisible in the workplace is worth the cost to her self-esteem, while Roland must reconcile his failure with his hopeful future. Together they both realize it is far better to be recognized by one person than to be rewarded by many, and that recovery is just as thrilling as discovery.

Jenna Kitchener is a hard-working scientist harvesting minerals from the planet Jonquil to make batteries for human and alien alike. She’s also a trans woman, still dealing with the ripple effect from her family’s exile.

When a member of her crew badmouths her behind her back, she confronts what she always suspected: in spite of her hard work and perseverance, her past will always come back to haunt her. She drinks her sorrows away in a bar on Asteroid 7, a rest stop non-planet before another mission in the morning, and instead of the bottom of a cocktail, she meets Davis Camden, a stunning man with a sharp smile, quick wit, and a key to the city.

Davis manages to cheer Jenna up by taking her to an underground fighting ring, which turns out to be the alien race’s equivalent to Mardi Gras. Now in the middle of a party that will go on for three days, Jenna embraces the change. When her crew ditches her, she realizes she must now make a choice: fight for her right to be respected as a scientist, or run away with a new man and begin her life all over again.
